Economy

Liechtenstein is one of the most developed countries in the world, and its economy is highly diversified and innovative.

Due to the small domestic market, the Liechtenstein economy is heavily export driven. Its products are extremely successful in many specialised niche markets.

International memberships

Liechtenstein is member of the United Nations (UN), the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and the European Economic Area (EEA). Its location at the centre of Europe, its EEA membership and custom union with Switzerland make Liechtenstein an ideal base for companies in the industrial and financial service sectors.

Standard of living

The country offers one of the highest standards of living in the world thanks to the prosperity generated by the industrial and financial service sectors. A modern and progressive educational system creates a well-trained and qualified workforce, with unemployment rates around 2%. First rate health care and an intact nature add to the high standard of living.
